Jr. Vet and Advanced Jr Vet
are
one
week courses offered at Cub Creek Science Camp. In our
Jr. Vet program campers
will have the opportunity to learn what it is like to be a
veterinarian.
Campers will;

Learn the signs and
symptoms of a sick verses healthy animal.

Conduct
exams, including weighing, measuring, taking a
temperatures and other vital statistics on a wide variety
of animals
-
Create and
update patient records.
-
Use a
microscope to look for and identify internal parasites.
-
Look at real x-rays and
learn what they can tell us about the condition of an
animal by an x-ray.
-
Learn how to give
injections, and practice giving an injection "to an
orange".

Learn how to suture, and
practice on a suture board.
-
Learn how to trim hooves,
toe nails and flight feather.

Watch a real surgery as
it is being preformed in our surgery room. (Dr
Brian Janke visits camp every week and performs spays
and neuters on the puppies and kittens that are part of
the local shelters rescue program.)
Campers will learn about
dogs, cats, birds and small pocket pets as well as farm
animals and a wide variety of exotic animals. Our camp
has more than 100 different species of animals.
